Alcantara Headliner (No Foam)

Alcantara Headliner (No Foam)

I now carry in stock THREE variants of Alcantara Panel

Alcantara 9002 Non-Stamped

This is your standard Alcantara, color code 9002. It was originally produced for an OE manufacturer, but was over-produced for the required quantity and was made available through direct-to-business sales channels from the Alcantara company. This manufacturer specified no Alcantara stamping along the edge (so as to give them more usable material) and as a result it was made available to me at a slight discount - a discount which I pass on to you. The only difference from this material to normal 9002 is the lack of the "Alcantara" stamp.

Alcantara 9002 Stamped

This is your standard Alcantara, color code 9002. This is normal, off-the-shelf, direct from Italy, Alcantara with the "Alcantara" stamping on the edge.

Alcantara BMW

It was commonly believed that BMW used color code 9002, but you'll hear a lot of reports over the years that 9002 was a slight mis-match from OE BMW material - the BMW OE Alcantara is slightly darker than 9002 but not as dark as black 9040. This is because BMW actually uses their own proprietary color and this color is now available from ASC Fabrics directly to you. It is genuine, stamped Alcantara, in a color that matches BMW headliners, seats and other interior accents.

This version is NOT an exact match for all older BMW models. Samples are available so you can ensure the material matches your existing interior! Cost of samples will be deducted from purchase over $100.

Note this version is NOT available with foam Which version should you choose?

If you are matching an existing BMW headliner or interior accents, then without a doubt - go with the BMW version.

If you are adding Alcantara to an interior that currently doesn't feature Alcantara, I recommend 9002. Why? There are a lot of products on the market - shift boots, steering wheels, seat delete panels, etc - which use 9002. If you are starting an interior "from scratch" then this gives you the flexibility to add pieces in the future from existing suppliers which will be an exact match for your new interior. In reality, the difference between 9002 and the BMW version are in fact quite small - most won't ever notice even if they are side by side, and I don't think anybody would ever notice a difference if all your car has in it is 9002. After all - 9002 has, for decades, been the accepted "OE color" for BMW. So if you are doing a fresh install, 9002 is the best choice for the flexibility it offers down the road.
